Golf Outing at Hampton Golf Village
This 18-hole course cuts through the rolling foothills of North Georgia with several elevation changes on the front 9. The back 9, however, is much more open and flat as it winds its way through streams and wetlands. At 6,903 yards from the Gold Tees, this par 71 demands long carries off the tee and accurate approach shots into medium sized greens with many subtle breaks and undulations.

Readings and interviews with some of the finest U.S. poets. Dana Gioia, poet and Chairman, Natl. Endowment for the Arts, opens. Poets include Morri Creech, Erica Dawson, Jeff Harrison, Joseph Harrison, J.D. McClatchy, Eric McHenry, Mary Jo Salter, W. D. Snodgrass, Mark Strand, Deborah Warren, Clive Watkins, Richard Wilbur and Greg Williamson. Free and open to public. Registration required.
A Fine Excess: A Three-Day Celebration of Poetry
Some of the country’s finest poets, including two former U.S. poet laureates, gather at Emory. Dana Gioia, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, opens the celebration, which includes poetry readings by Richard Wilbur, Mark Strand and W.D. Snodgrass. The three-day program will include readings by 10 more poets, including readings by Hecht Prize winners Morri Creech and Erica Dawson.
