The Atlanta Youth Symphony (AYWS) was established in 1988 as the premiere youth wind ensemble in the Atlanta metropolitan arts community.

Mon, Mar 29 - Ruth Naomi Floyd is a gifted vocalist-composer who has been at forefront of creating vocal jazz settings that express Christian theology for over 15 years and has released several highly acclaimed recordings.  She teaches music at Spruce Hill Christian School in Philadelphia and is an Adjunct Professor of Vocals in the Church Music Program at Philadelphia Biblical University of Langhorne, PA.

FIRST Robotics Championship
Thu, Apr 15 - FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a not-for-profit, will host its annual robotics Championship at the Georgia Dome, April 15-17. This family event is free and open to the public. Higginbothan, chairperson of Harvard University's Department of African American Studies, worked with the late John Hope Franklin to thoroughly revise this classic survey of African American history. Higgenbothan's talk will be accompanied by a small exhibition of earlier surveys of African American history drawn from Emory's Carter G. Woodson Library, housed in the MARBL.
Mozart's Immortal "Requiem", Emory

Conductor's Richard Prior and Eric Nelson will share the podium in a collaboration that will assemble more than 250 Emory students and chorus members in one of the most enduring choral-orchestral masterworks.

Wed, May 05 - Free. The orchestra presents Johan DeMeij's "Gandalf" from "Symphony No. 1 Lord of the Rings" and the great American orchestral masterwork, Howard Hanson's "Symphony No. 2, Romantic." Also featured: the winner of the 2009-2010 EYSO concerto competition. The 90-member youth orchestra is comprised of exceptionally talented young musicians from more than 40 high schools in the metro-Atlanta area.
